Student Spotlight – Meet Alice, an expatriate living in Singapore with her family

Learning a language is much more than just an academic exercise—it’s a personal adventure. At VivaLing, each student receives 100% personalized support tailored to their pace, needs, and personality.

To illustrate the power of this approach, we invite you to discover the story of Alice, a young learner who turned her challenges into a true linguistic success story.

Alice, a young learner from Singapore whose home language is English, began her VivaLing journey three years ago with her family with a clear mission: to bridge the gaps in her school’s French curriculum and prepare her for the crucial final years of high school. With the support of Coach Myriam, Alice’s story became a powerful example of what personalised language learning can achieve.

Family testimonial

“Dear Coach Myriam,

I would like to thank you for all the years of French support you have given our family — first to our eldest daughter and then to her younger sister. Without your help, they would not have been able to maintain their level throughout secondary school and beyond.

As you probably know, their school offers French A  from Year 9 to Year 12, but not during the crucial middle school years (Years 6 to 8), and your support during this period has been invaluable.

Alice has now started her French A course at school, and we hope the school’s support will now be sufficient. If not, we know exactly where to turn!

Thank you for your time, energy and commitment. Our daughters really enjoyed their time with you — you are a fantastic teacher!

With all our gratitude”

Through the Coach’s Eyes

When Alice first joined VivaLing, she already spoke French well for her level but struggled with vocabulary nuances, prepositions, and auxiliary verbs in compound tenses. Writing was her biggest challenge — conjugation errors and sentence structure were common hurdles.

But with patience, consistency, and a personalised approach, Alice didn’t just improve — she thrived.

While studying with VivaLing,
    –  She read classics like Manon des Sources by Marcel Pagnol and La Petite Fadette by George Sand.
    –  She developed a love for writing — and celebrated the moment she wrote her first flawless text.
    –  She even created a beautiful travel journal during the holidays.

Alice was curious, motivated, and always open to feedback. She loved sharing stories from her everyday life — holidays, sports camps, touch rugby and swimming adventures — bringing authenticity and joy to every session.
It was a true pleasure to teach her.
— Coach Myriam

The Secret: Personalised Learning

Alice’s story shows the power of a truly personalised learning experience. Even with a strong foundation in French, addressing her specific gaps in vocabulary and grammar allowed her to progress with precision and confidence.

Growing up speaking two or more languages strengthens memory, builds confidence, and opens professional doors, and it all begins with the right approach.

At VivaLing, we believe language learning works best when it’s built around you — and Alice’s journey is proof.
